One bright day in late autumn a family of ants were grinding away in the hot sunshine, drying out the grain they had stored up during the summer, when a cicada dying of hunger, with her violin under her arm, showed up and humbly begged for some food.
“What!” cried everyone in surprise, “haven’t you stored anything away for the winter? What the heck were you doing during the summer?”
